Why a fish cannot survive out of water

A fish can only respire through dissolved oxygen in water. When it is taken out of the water,it is exposed to oxygen which is not in dissolved form. The fish unable ro take in direct oxygen cannot survive.

Fish also need oxygen to live, but their lungs are not designed to extract oxygen from the air.

Instead, by passing thewater through their specialized organs (called gills), they can remove the oxygen and eliminate waste gases.

Since humans do not have gills, we cannot extract oxygen from water.
