great care should be taken for intravenous injection because if

(i) hypertonic solution is injected it leads to shrinkage of blood corpuscles due to osmosis this is also known as crenation

(ii) hypotonic soln is injected it causes the swelling of blood corpuscles due to osmosis also known as hemolysis.

Explanation:

Great care must be taken in Intravenous injections because:

♥ for intravenous injection, the solution to be injected dilute to plasma, lowering its concentration and making it hypotonic to the solution inside the red blood cells.

♥ then water would enter the red blood cells via osmosis then the cell would swell and could potentially burst or shrinkage of cells

hope it helps u.....❣️
