why a match stick can be lighted by striking its step with any rough surface​

Answer:

When we strike a matchstick against the rough surface, it produces fire. This is due to friction. As the two surfaces are stroked , and due to friction , the surface gets heated. In the tip of the matchstick it generally contains phosphorus , pottasium which helps to light up .
