Hey MATE!
If we hang something on the wall with the help of a nail like a picture or anything has a tendency to come down because gravitational force works on it to bring it down.
But inside the wall the surface is rough which does not allow the nail to slip easily.
Also normal contact force is applied by the walls on the surface of iron nail which keep it in it's casual position.
