Why a number is irrational if p and q are not co- prime? I mean that why a number ≠ p/q when p and q are not co-prime?​

Because p and q are co - prime numbers and the number become their common factor . That is why it is not equal to the p/q.

Note: The numbers which are co prime numbers do not have common factors.
