Obviously when the same force acts on a larger area the pressure decreases. Thesharp edge of the knife has less area than the blunt edge.Therefore we are able to cut easily using less force with a sharp edge of the knife.

the blunt knife has more area which decreases the pressure. as area is inversely proportional to pressure... therefore a sharp knife does cut objects more effectively than a blunt knife....
