Why a transformer cannot step up dc voltage?

If dc is setup, due to the excess flow of current, the device might blast.
So always ac is only setup using transformers. We should understand that here ac supplies dc to devices.

transformers are not setup using DC current a transformer cannot commute direct current and may get blast. So, only AC current is used to setup transformers
