The principle of Capillary action is used by wick to move the liquid fuel towards the flame. The gas in the gas burner cannot be moved up by the capillary action. Thus, wick in a gas burner would not work. In gas burners, the gas is fed into a stove. The air is drawn along with gas. The oxygen mixes with the gas which makes it combustible.
