because of Litmus is a water soluble mixture of natural dyes and when absorbed on filter paper can be used as a pH indicator. The paper doesn't paper on contact with strong acids due to the natural dye coating on the paper.

but as we know that acids are very corrosive in nature they can even burn us so why not litmus paper
