Why actiacid have 2 carbon and acetone have 3 carbon?

No ketone exists with just 2 carbons . it will be called aldehyde then.

Acetylene is Propan-2-one where propan- signifies a 3 carbon chain and Acetic Acid is Ethanoic Acid where ehtan- signifies a 2 carbon chain.
