Why alcohal are more soluble in water than haloalkanr?

Water is a polar solvent. Now, as we know the property of like dissolves like, polar solutes will easily dissolve in water.

Here, both alcohol and haloalkanes are polar in nature but due to  presence of more electronegative oxygen atom alcohol is more polar than haloalkanes and hence alcohols are more soluble in water than haloalkanes.
