Amoeba appear to lack the enzymes needed to digest fat. They use two enzymes called amylase and proteinase for digestion. This allows amoeba to digest things like cellulose and proteins and simple sugars.

Fats are called lipids. Lipase is enzyme needed to digest fat. Lipase is an enzyme that hydrolyzes lipids, the ester bonds in triglycerides, Amoeba lack this enzyme so they can’t digest lipids, which is a long process to digest.
