The amoeba undergoes cell division to form two daughter cells. This is how the amoeba cell propagates itself. In essence it is the same amoeba that divides. This can be back dated to the first amoeba ever. The preceding amoeba does not die but just splits to form two new daughter cells.

Answer:

Amoeba is immortal since it is a unicellular organism and undergo asexual reproduction(i.e., binary fission ) so the organism produced are clone of their parent and since clones have genetic material identical to their parent so genetic material is not lost and in biology for unicellular organisms death refers to complete loss of genetic material  therefore amoeba is not said to be dead.
