Amorphous solids cannot be considered as solids.

  • By the definition and structure of solid we can know that anything that has a perfect crystalline form or has order in atoms’ position then such material is considered as solid.
  • In case of amorphous solids although these appear to have certain shape which are not geometrically described or their shapes can be changed or distorted as per the the environmental condition and also the atoms are not positioned in a fixed long term place these solids are not considered as real solids they are just acting to be a solid.
  • This can be clarified more easily with the help of example. examples for amorphous solids are wax glass paraffin etc. because of the non crystalline form these the solid have they are able to change their shape and not retain any basic structure. This is why they are not considered within the limits of actual solids and are named amorphous solids.
