Why an ammeter should always be connected in series and an voltmeter in parallel

as it measures voltage drop across the two nodes in the form of current and in parallel circuit resistance is constant

current is constant in series therefore ammeter is connecteds in series and if connected in parallel the voltage is constant and current is not therefore voltmeter is connected in parallel
