Why an animal living in soil come out of the soil for respiration in rainy season?

in rainy season, excess of water penetrates into soil blocking the way of entering and exiting of oxygen due to which animals who lives inside the soil don't get required amount of oxygen for respiration..
That's why in rainy season, animals living inside comes out of the soil.
