why an iron rod exposed to moisture and air loses its lustre

because it reacts with the oxygen to form iron oxide which makes it look dull in appearance

air contains oxygen and along with moisture, H2O is formed. when this reacts with iron, rust is formed on iron. this results in the loss of its lustre......
