Hey there...!!

Firstly, what is 'AQUA FORTIS' ??
=> Aqua Fortis is Concentrated Nitric Acid i.e. HNO3

Concentrated Nitric Acid cannot be used in the preparation of Hydrogen Chloride Gas because it is volatile in nature and may volatilize out along with hydrogen chloride.

Generally HCl gas is prepared by heating the metallic chlorides with concentrated sulphuric acid.

For example,
NaCl + H2SO4 ==> Na2SO4 + HCl

&

CuCl2 + H2SO4 ==> CuSO4 + HCl

Normally Common Salt is preferred for the preparation of HCl because it is cheap and easily available.

Heya! !

Mainly, aqua fortis is concentrated Nitric Acid (HNO3).
As we know, it is volatile in nature (it means that it can be evaporated fastly).
So, if we use aqua fortis during the preparation of HCL ( HYDROCHLORIC ACID) GAS then it may be leads to exposure to air of gas easily.
