The main reason behind the reservation of seats for woman in local governing bodies is to uplift them to the main stream,as condition of woman in Indian society is not as good as that of men..

It is known to all that women are represented poorly in governing bodies in India.
Hence the government has come up with a new concept where 1/3rs seats will be for women.
The Women's Reservation Bill has a vision to reserve 1/3rd for Lok Sabha and State Assembly seats just for women.
It is needed to equalize genders and combine efforts and knowledge of people from all sections of the society.
