- An acid is any substance which tastes sour in water solution, effects litmus paper that is it changes blue litmus paper to red, reacts with some metals for liberating hydrogen, reacts with bases for the formation of salts, and promotes chemical reactions known as acid catalysis.
- The pH value of Acids is below 7. The more H+ (hydrogen) ions then the more acidic the substance is and the lower the pH will be.
- Examples of acidic substances are Sulfuric acids (H2SO4), nitric acids (HNO3), hydrochloric acids (HCl), and phosphoric acids (H3PO4)
