Because cooler air falls and warmer air rises inside the room , the AC needs to be where it can be gather the warm air and where the cool air dishcharge can fall through the entire room instead of the building up from the floor .
externally the exhaust air is very hot . By placing the unit up high that hot exhaust air does not further heat the building before rising away ..
