Because light have the tendancy to travel in same speed through irregular structures, refering it transparent/translucent

Amorphous solids are isotropic in nature.
It is because there is no long range order in them and arrangement is regular along all the directions.
Therefore, values of any physical property (like electrical resistance or refractive index) would be same along any direction.
