Why are antibiotics work against bacteria but not at viruses? Explain

viruses doesn't have its own body .It derive its nutrients from the host .so the antibiotics may harm the host not the virus.

Antibiotics work against bacteria but not viruses since Viruses eventually change their genetic code and become resistant to that antibiotic. So, prolonged use of the same antibiotic will not have any effect on the viruses, whereas bacteria don't show this type of mechanism.
