When your bread develops a mould or your orange rots it is because of fungi. The common mushroom you eat and toadstools are also fungi. ... Fungi are cosmopolitan and occur in air, water, soil and on animals and plants. They prefer to grow in warm and humid places.

Mold is a type of fungus and is therefore grouped under Mycota.

Explanation:

  • When the bread is left in the room temperature for four or five days, it is found that it gets covered in a grey or black or white feathery covering called mold.
  • This is a type of fungus and therefore it falls under the family of Mycota. Fungal spores are present in the air, and when they land on a surface filled with nutrients like sugar and starch it starts propagating.
  • Bread has the desired nutrients and therefore mold develops on bread.
