Chemical And Physical Changes Are Important Because:-
- Cooking of food:- It is a chemical change because cooking changes the taste, odour and composition of the food.
- Fermentation:- Fermentation is a change that takes place mostly in drinks, fruits and vegetables. The process of fermentation changes the substances of the matter As a result, the form, taste, smell and composition of the matter are changed. Hence, fermentation is a chemical change.
- Digestion of food:- Digestion of food in our body is a chemical change. The food we eat goes into the stomach, where it is churned and converted into a liquid form. The digested food in liquid form is absorbed into the blood.
- Boiling, evaporation and condensation:- All these terms are physical changes. On heating, the liquid changes into its vapour state at a definite temperature of boiling. On cooling at a fixed temperature, the vapour is converted to a liquid state called condensation. The conversion of a liquid into its vapour at a temperature below its boiling point is called evaporation.
- Grinding of substances:- When we grind substances such as wheat, rice, jawar, bajra, etc no new substance is formed, but the grains break down into fine particles. Therefore, the grinding of substances is a physical change.
- Melting of butter in a dish:- When butter is melted in a dish, it only changes its shape and size, but remains the same. No new substance is made. Therefore, it is a physical change.
