When solar radiations hits the Earth's surface, they radiates back to thr atmosphere by the Earth's surface.

These reflected radiations have longer wavelengths than the initial radiations.

During cloudy nights, these reflected radiations can't penetrate the blanket of clouds due to there low energy and gets entrapped between the Earth's surface and the clouds.

Air molecules absorbs these radiations and gets heated up, increasing the temperature of the atmosphere in process.

HEY!!

______________________________

▶Clear night is cooler because earth radiates heat it gets from the sun during the day, back into space.

▶Clouds are formed of water vapour which is poor conductor of heat and thus clouds blankets the heat radiating from earth to the space.

▶This trapped heat increases temperature at that the local region of earth covered by clouds and hence nights are warmer.
