Why are cotton and woolen clothes rough, and silk, nylon and polyester smooth to touch?

Woollen and cottoncontain air spaces in it which makes itrough when you touch and also they have uneven surface which makes them rough to touch. On other handsilk and nylon have plain long fine structure which makes it appearsmooth in touch
