The Earth, that is sphere in shape is almost shown to scale in a Globe, but whereas in a Map, it is showing its flattened appearance, thus it has some distortions and a Map is sometimes not drawn to scale.

In a map, the spherical view of the Earth is shown on a flat surface by using various projections. So, the size of the different continents are not drawn to scale on a map.
