Answer:

In a combination reaction two or more substances are combined to form new substance while in the decomposition reaction one substance decomposes into two or more substances. Hence, the decomposition reactions are called opposite of combination reactions.

Explanation:

An example of a combination reaction is when hydrogen and chlorine react to form hydrochloric acid

Examples of decomposition reactions include the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen, and the breakdown of water to hydrogen and oxygen.

AnswEr:-

❀ Decomposition reactions are called opposite of combination reaction because in decomposition reaction one reactant broke or decompose in two or more products while on the other hand in combination reaction two or more reactants are combined to form a single product.

Equations:-

For Decomposition reaction:-

\\ \tt\bigstar\:\: CO_2\:\:\underrightarrow{Heat} \:\:C + O_2.\\

For Combination Reaction:-

\tt\bigstar\:\: C + O_2 \rightarrow CO_2.\\

In above equations we can see that during decomposition \bf{CO_2} decomposes into two products which are C and \bf{O_2}, Whereas in combination reaction C and \bf{O_2} had combined together to form a single product which is \bf{CO_2}.

This is because decomposition reactions are called opposite of combination reactions.
