Decomposition is breaking process whereas combination is combining..
like in CaCO3 -> CaO + CO2 when heated is decomposition process example.

In decomposition reaction a single compound breaks itself into two or more simpler substances, on the other hand in combination reaction there is a chemical union of two or more substances to form one compound.
Combination Reaction:-    2H₂ + O₂ -------------> 2H₂O
In the above example, two elements combine to form a single compound.
Decomposition Reaction:-  2KCLO₃  ----------------> 2KCL + 3O₂
(when potassium chlorate is heated it gives KCL and O₂ gas.)
