Delta plains are formed at the mouths of rivers or wherever rivers lose their speed and leave alluvial deposits. Sunderbans Delta is an example of this, which is formed by Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers. These deltaic plains are easy to cultivate due to fertile alluvial soil, easy to cross and move products through excellent transport services. The deltaic plains are most suitable for human settlement and occupation as they have fertile land that are drained by rivers. Due to their fertility, these delta plains are thickly populated.
