different water harvesting system is considered as a viable alternative both socially, economical and environmentally.

1.socially-

    a.when there is a water scarcity not only but our neighbors are also effected. There may be disputes on using water which is available to us. Thus harvesting water by ourselves not only can conserve water for future use but also we can avoid a dispute.

    b.it was the method used since ancient times. like sringaraverapuram in allahabad.

2.economically-

     a. Dams built can be useful economically. it was considered as temple of modern india by Jawaharlal nehru.it was thought  to bring us out from the economical fall caused during colonial period.

      b. water harvesting method are economically viable like tankas in rajasthan.it does not require much expenses. it is useful at the same time.

3.environmentally-

      a.in west Bengal, inundation channels are build to direct water.in areas of Rajasthan rain fed storage system is formed where water is allowed to stand on field. This method helps in growing crops such as rice.

       b.the water harvested can be used to irrigate plant and trees during hot weather.thus promoting afforestation.
