why are earthworms and microbes called as 'friend of farmers'?

Earthworms and microbes are called farmers friends as they add humus to the soil. They also make the soil loose so that the plants can breathe easily.

Because they are mostly stay in the farms... That's why.. They are called as the friend of farmers
