Bcs these gases atoms have valence electrons in the outer most shell which make bonds with other valence electrons of other same type of atom.

Hello dear,
● Why elementary gases are diatomic -
- Elementary gases are those which are produced by bonding of atoms of single element.
- For example, N2, O2, H2, etc.
- Ad valence shells of some elements are incomplete, one atom shares electrons with another atom.
- This is why elementary gases are formed by two atoms.
Hope thos helps you..
