only few drops of dil,H2SO4 are added to water as it is already diluted.with water, so for not effecting the quality of the product, only few drops of the acid in water is sufficient.

Answer: Because the reaction is exothermic and large amount of acids can lead to generation of high amounts of heat.

Explanation: Exothermic processes are those processes in which heat is released and endothermic processes are those processes in which heat is absorbed.

When acid is added to water, heat is released when high energy bonds are broken and form newer lower energy bonds.

When acid is added to water, the strong bonds of acid are broken and they dissociate in to ions, thus releasing a large amount of energy in the form of heat and thus we need to add few drops or else there would be generation of large amounts of heat and may result in burns.
