why are flowers generally so colourful and fragrant

Here's ur answer:-

Flowers are colourful and fragrant to facilitate insect pollination. Insects get attracted to Bright colours and fragrance and when they reach the flower, pollens stick to their body and hence get pollinated .

Actually they are also green due to chlorophyll but the other pigments which are present are more in quantity and they mask the green colour of the chlorophyll. The smell in a flower is also the result of the presence of these pigments..
