Flowers are generally colourful as well as give out fragrance so as to carry out pollination
Pollination is the process of transfer of pollen grains to the stigma of flower
If flower are not sweet smelling and not colourful then chances of fruit formation becomes less

Hey dear!!
Flowers are generally colourful and sweet smelling so that they can attract insects for pollination.
When an insect lands on a flower, it carries the pollen grains with it which are stuck on its body. When the insect lands on another flower, these pollen grains are transferred to the stigma of that flower.
If they are not colourful and sweet smelling, they insects wouldn't be so attracted by them and so there are chances in decrease of pollination. Though, wind can also pollinate, but the flowers pollinated by wind are usually less attractive.
Hope helped!!
