Because they have chitinous cell wall and they cannot prepare their own food that is they are saprophytic under heterotrophic..so they are not included under kingdom plantae that can undergo photosynthesis and prepare their own food.

because of the following reasons fungi is separated from plant Kingdom :-

✴️ Fungi also lack chloroplasts and are,, hence unable to perform photosynthesis.

✴️ Plants have multiple flagella on their motile spores while fungi only have one.

✴️ The closing evidence are molecular phylogenies, which pretty consistently group fungi with animals on the tree of life.

✴️ Fungi use the AAA pathway to synthesize lysine instead of the DAP pathway used by plants.

✴️ Most fungi build their cell walls out of chitin.

✴️ Unlike embryophytes and algae which are generally photosynthetic, fungi are often saprotrophs: obtaining food by breaking down and absorbing surrounding materials.

✴️ They are not related to any of the photosynthetic groups, but are close relatives of animals. Therefore, the fungi are in a kingdom of their own.
