why are gases so easily compressible whereas it is almost impossible to compress a solid or a liquid?

it is because gases has spaces between them that why it is more compressible

Lets get it clear.
What does it mean to compress?
Compression means to apply some force,that reduces the intermolecular space between the molecule. And reduces the volume the matter occupy.
Why can we compress gas, and barely liquid and solid?
See the pic below, those white spaces are the free available space, when we apply force we can bring the molecule near ,reducing the volume the matter hold.
Solid and liquid have very less space in between the molecule hence cannot be compressed,whereas gases have large empty space that can be compressed.
