Since the plants produce their own food by the help of photosynthesis so, they are known as producer

When the plants died, the decomposers (mainly bacteria) decompose this and release energy.

Plants are called producers because they can produce their own food with the process of photosynthesis.

In this process, they produce glucose by using the sun’s light energy, carbon dioxide and water. Animals cannot make their own food and have to rely to consume other food sources.

This is why animals are called consumers. There are three categories of consumers, the herbivores, the omnivores and the carnivores. There are certain plants which have been known to be carnivorous.
