Himalayas are found to be formed 'very recently' when the Indian Plate collided with the Tibetan Plate during the period called Paleocene-Eocene. This collision of two continental plates formed Orogens or mountains.

Himalayas are called as the young and fold mountains because they are the most recently formed if compared with other mountains. they were formed by the collision of the Indian plate with the big enough Eurasian plate
