•The defensive protein molecule which is produced in the body in response to a specific antigen in order to inactivate it is called antibody.

•Antibody molecules are protein in nature like globulins of blood plasma so this molecules are also known as immunoglobulins.

•They recognise and attach themselves with the disease causing foreign agents and help in their neutralization and inactivation so they are also known as defence protein.

•There are five types of immunoglobulins - IgG, IgM, IgA, IgD and IgE
