they are called scavengers but they are also called suicide bags of the cells as they destroy foreign particles by bursting their acidic and enzymatic content to destroy their own cell along with themselves. hence scavengers as they destroy the remaining matter.

Lysosome are called scavenger of the cell because the cell orggenell lysosome contain acids which are used in digestion of food which is really helpful but if the lysosome get burst all the acid in it will be scattered in the cell & hence it will destroy or kill the cell.
