Assume 1 man does 1 unit of work in 1 day.
Then total work = 12×18=216 units

In initial 6 days, 12 men worked.
Work completed = 12×6=72 units
Remaining work = 216 - 72 = 144 units

Then 16 men work
Time required for them to finish the job =14416=9=14416=9 days

Assume 1 man does 1 unit of work in one day.

Then total work = 12 × 18 = 216 units

In initial 6 days, 12 men worked.

Work completed = 12 × 6 = 72 units

Remaining work = 216 - 72 = 144 units

Then 16 men work

Time required for them to finish the job = 14416 = 9 days
