  • Both the cycnobacteria and the rhodophyceae have pigments that are photosynthetic that is the cyanobacteria contains the phycocyanin and the phycoerytrin that are similar to the pigments that are present in the rhodophyceae in addition.  
  • They are all located in the phycobilisomes in both organisms, they both have similar fatty acid contents that help in the growth of their thallus.
