Why are mammals called warm blooded animals?

Most insects and birds' body temperature changes with changes in the external temperature or environment.....
Mammals' body temperature remains constant even if the external temperature changes... So mammals are called warm blooded animals...

Warm blooded means that the animal cannot change it's body temperature according to the surroundings to be suitable whereas cold blooded animals can change their body temperature to adapt the surroundings.
