Why are manures and fertilizers used in fields ? A farmer irrigated his field excessively just after applying fertilizers. Explain why this is not a correct practice ?

All the plants require specific nutrients for their growth to increase the yield; the soil can be enriched by supplying these nutrients. Manure is used because it helps in enriching the soil with nutrients, organic matter and increasing soil fertility.

Fertilizers are used to ensure good vegetative growth, giving rise to healthy plants. This is not a correct practice because use of excess fertilizers leads to water pollution.
