Non metals have a stronger "pull" on their electrons because they are closer to having a full valence (outer) shell, making them stable. The more valence electrons an element has, the more elecronegative it is likely to be due to this "pull".
And metals have strong tendency to loose electrons. The less valence electrons an element has,the more electropositive it is likely to be due to its tendency of loosing electrons....
I hope this will help u !!!

✨✔️✔️HERE IS YOUR ANSWER...

✔️ Metals generally have a tendency to loose electrons and forms positively charged ions. This property is called “Electropositive character”.
✨As electropositive character increases metallic character also increases.

✔️ Non-Metals generally have a tendency to gain electrons and forms negatively charged ions. This property is called electronegative character.
✨As the electronegative character increases non-metallic also increases.

✨✔️HOPE IT HELPS YOU...
