Explanation:

Because democratic government give a chance to the people to share their voices and choices. They get an opportunity to select right government to govern the nation.

Also due to democracy, there is a direct link between people and government officials which isn't served by autocratic governments.

Nowadays, people need a ruling power who will fulfil their needs. They don't want someone to rule them unjustly.

Even history is testimony that autocratic governments have failed to put people's priority in execution. So, most of the countries are adopting democratic government.

Answer:

The modern democracies are being called Representative Democracies because it is the elected representatives of the people who run the government--make and execute the laws and policies for the people.

The representatives are elected by the people and it is these representatives who form the legislature and government of the state. It is thus also being called as Indirect Democracy.

A representative democracy is a form of government in which representatives are elected to make policy and enforce laws while representing the citizens. All modern democratic countries are representative, not direct, democracies. A representative democracy is also known as a republic.
