Naphthalene is an organic compound which undergoes sublimation.
-->Naphthalene balls are kept in stored woollen and silk clothes etc to protect from the attack of moths and other insects.
---> It is noticed that if kept open,Naphthalene balls disappears with time without leaving behind any residue.
--->The naphthalene balls keep on forming naphthalene vapours slowly which disappears into air.

Hence for the above reasons, naphthalene balls  are stored in tight packing

Naphthalene balls when exposed to air readily undergo sublimation. Sublimation is the process in which a substance changes its state from solid to gaseous state without passing through the liquid state at all. In order to avoid the changing of naphthalene balls to vapours, they are packed in airtight packets. This prevents exposure to air and so prevents sublimation (disappearance without leaving any traces).
